Artistic Statement:

  While being mentored by the decorator Kyle Griffith, I discovered my true passion for Renaissance art. My introduction included painting iron and furniture to look like stone, marble and different faux textures. He introduced me to beautiful antiques, very impressive paintings and Venetian design. To help me develop an artistic edge, he provided the training of David Mah to develop techniques in faux finish. Mr. Mah is a very talented artist that specialized in Tromp L’oiel. During one of our breaks I happened upon a beautiful Tromp L’oeil painting of an angel floating through a window. This gave me the vision of how to merge fine arts with beautiful dimensional depth. 

  As a decorative artist I try to bring a Venetian style and time to the viewer. It has always been my natural instinct to depict my artwork with realism and depth; trying to capture a moment in time or a feeling that the viewer can experience and reflect upon. I strive for reality, double-takes and the need for touch to verify authenticity of my work. I want it to feel as though it breathes life and has a presence of its own.

  I plan to keep developing my skills by working on different types of ventures that include the use of light and sound to bring a more real feel to my work. I have just started a project painting beautiful skies with light shining through and trees for a business that specializes in ‘Green’ heating and cooling systems. I am also working on a project where I am developing copper and gold metallic finishes that run throughout a business office. I use every new experience to broaden my knowledge and ability.  

In my opinion decorative art is the culmination of the client’s vision interpreted and transformed into an endless beauty that can be experienced over and over again.
